Do you have a man in your life that loves hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors? We do! My dad, who we call Granddad around our house, is a hunter, fisher, camper extraordinaire! If he could spend every weekend in the woods, he would! Because of this, I decided to make him an outdoorsy card for this upcoming Father's Day. I chose a camouflage look because I knew that all three of my children would be able to participate in making the card without anyone "messing up" their siblings' parts of the project.
To make this card, you need sturdy paper, masking tape, paint, and a marker. Start by folding your paper, and masking off the word "wild" on the cover.
Next, let your children cover the entire card with dots of green and brown paint- we used a light green, dark green, and brown. Make sure you fill as much white space as possible, especially around the edges of your letters.
After the paint dries, carefully peel off the tape and add your message with a permanent marker. You can also outline your letters to make your lines more clean and bold. I wrote, "We're WILD about you, Granddad!"
If you like the letters white, you can stop here and add your note inside your card. My kids apparently needed a little more pizzazz and requested that the white letters be colored. We went back with some brown watercolor to fill in the bold letters.
We were so happy with how the card turned out (and I know Granddad will like it too)! Here is a video of this project from the On Hand Family Fun Facebook page. I hope you can use the idea to brighten the day of the outdoors-man in your life!
Happy Father's Day, Dads! We're WILD about you!
